During the two days of high-level talks between the US and China in Alaska this year, a beautiful Chinese interpreter （口译员） caught many people's eye at home and abroad. Her name is Zhang Jing. She won many people's hearts with her excellent performance at the meeting.
Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Zhang took an interest in English at a very young age. She decided to work for China's diplomacy （外交） in junior high school and then started her journey towards the dream. In 2003, she got into China Foreign Affairs （中国外交） University.
During the following four years there, she worked hard and improved her language skills greatly.
After graduating from university, she got a job in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and finally realized her dream.
"Zhang made the world hear the voice of China. She also showed the power of Chinese women," wrote someone on the Internet.
Zhang's story also encouraged many students to study translation and interpretation. "I dream of being a person like her and I will try my best to study for that," said a junior high school student from Beijing.
